Department Summary The UCLA Institute for Society and Genetics is a Center for Interdisciplinary Instruction (CII) within the Division of Life Sciences. The department consists of 20+ faculty, 7 operational staff, lecturers, academic apprentices, postdoctoral scholars, national and international researchers, and 6 fully staffed life science laboratories (2 wet labs, and 4 social science labs), and the Human Biology and Society Major (B.A. & B.S.) and Society and Genetics Minor program. Position Summary The Research Data Analyst 2 supports the full lifecycle of a community-engaged environmental health research study at the Carceral Ecologies lab, applying acquired skills in research data analysis, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement to assignments of moderate scope and complexity. Working within generally defined practices and policies, the successful candidate will oversees project administration - including timelines, and deliverables- while maintaining and developing data gathering, retrieval, and reporting systems that ensure study milestones are met. The position serves as the primary liaison between the research team and a constellation of external sub-grantees, contracted partners, and community organizations, coordinating technical assistance, reviewing deliverables, and facilitating cross-site convenings to promote accountability and shared learning. The analyst cultivates equitable, community-centered partnerships, facilitates community stakeholder engagement activities, and ensures research activities remain responsive to community needs and priorities. Additionally, the role recruits, trains, and supervises undergraduate research assistants, providing mentorship in research methods and data collection, and supports dissemination efforts by preparing accessible policy briefs, fact sheets, and presentations tailored to policymakers and public health audiences. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range.
