Your role at Baxter

The Inspector, Incoming, is an entry level position that involves the inspection of raw materials at the beginning of the manufacturing process. This person is detail oriented and quality focused. They play a critical role in ensuring quality and integrity of raw materials which are essential for producing high quality medical devices.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform visual, functional, and dimensional inspection on incoming materials, in-process assemblies and finished products.
  • Disposition accepted or rejected parts, or final products, to the appropriate locations.
  • Perform the various standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality work instructions (QWIs) and inspection processes (RIIs) needed to ensure quality products are made at the Medina site.
  • Accurately record all data and observations.
  • Identify non-conforming material and issue nonconformance reports as necessary.
  • Perform quality data entry and reporting as required. Systems used include but are not limited to Camstar (Manufacturing Execution System), GME/JDE (ERP System), Trackwise8, Trackwise9, Teamcenter Unified (TcU).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Strong math and reading skills.
  • 1-2 years experience working in a quality controlled environment. Preferred within regulated industry with cGMP principles (i.e. medical devices).
  • Experience measuring and inspecting parts, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work an eight (8-10) hour shift and able to work overtime when required to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and working application of measurement equipment, i.e., Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gage, Drop Gage, Pin Gages, Microscope.
  • Strong attention to detail with proactive approach to identifying issues.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings used to inspect parts.
  • Knowledge and working application of Zero Acceptance Number Sampling Plans
  • Knowledge and working application of standard operating procedures.
  • Certification, knowledge and working application of IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.
  • Knowledge and working application of FDA cGMP a plus.
  • Knowledge and working application of ANSI/ISO/Health Canada Requirements a plus.
  • Knowledge and working application of data entry and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Office).
  • Working knowledge of medical device regulations, a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stretch and walk throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion tasks.
  • Work well under tight deadlines.
  • Dynamic Lifting capability: Must have the ability to lift and carry 15 pounds from floor to shoulder and lift 2 pounds from shoulder to overhead. Must also have the capability to push and pull a maximum force of 6 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This is a manufacturing environment regulated by the FDA and many other work rules to prevent damage to the product we manufacture. Some of those work rules include but are not limited to:

  • Wearing a static protective smock at all times while in the work area.
  • Working in close proximity to other employees.
  • Working in an environment that is temperature and humidity controlled.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $43,200 - $59,400 annually. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
