THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated professional to join the Office of Chief Counsel as an Administrative Officer. In this pivotal role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and operational support that keeps the office running smoothly and efficiently each day.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this dynamic role, you will serve as a key resource for the Office of Chief Counsel, supporting essential administrative functions that keep operations running smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will span several critical areas, including:

  • Human Resources & Administrative Coordination
    Supporting personnel processes, documentation, and day-to-day administrative needs.
  • Onboarding & Systems Coordination
    Ensuring new employees have a seamless onboarding experience and maintaining access to essential systems.
  • Operations & Office Management
    Overseeing office workflows, supplies, scheduling, and general operational support.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Safety
    Assisting with safety protocols, emergency planning, and compliance activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of varied office management or staff work within a public or private legal office.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must have at least two years of experience organizing and maintaining records.
  • You must have at least one year of experience handling and maintaining classified information with discretion.
  • You must have at least two years of experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
  • You must have at least two years of experience using office technology such as computers, scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
  • You must have at least two years of experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
