Project Manager - Scientific Communications & Digital Operations

Description

The Project Manager, Scientific Communications & Digital Operations will play a central role in ensuring/supporting the operational excellence of the Scientific Communications & Independent Medical Education team. This individual will manage timelines, processes, and systems supporting the development and dissemination of scientific and medical content, including publications, congress deliverables, and digital resources.

The successful candidate will support the Sr/ Scientific Communications Directors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of publication plans, effective digital content management, and alignment with internal governance and compliance standards.

This individual will support day-to-day operations, manage project timelines and deliverables, and ensure that all work is executed smoothly, on time, and with excellence.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external authors to manage review cycles, respond to feedback, and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of publication planning and congress data dissemination practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist in coordination of project within the broader DT&SI team, including MOC

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Communications Operations

  • Partner with the Medical Writer and Sr/Scientific Communications Directors to manage end-to-end project timelines and deliverables for abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • Oversee publication submissions to journals and scientific congresses, ensuring compliance with internal policies, author approvals, and Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines.
  • Track and maintain publication status updates, author communications, and version control through appropriate systems and databases (e.g., iEnvision, PubSTRAT, or equivalent).
  • Coordinate internal reviews and facilitate cross-functional input to ensure materials are accurate, compliant, and strategically aligned.

Digital and Content Management

  • Lead the organization and maintenance of the Scientific Communications SharePoint site, ensuring materials are current, searchable, and accessible.
  • Support digital strategy implementation, including posting and version management of approved scientific content on Content Lab or in coordination with Medical Information on VeeVa, for internal and external use (e.g., MSL slide decks, post-congress materials).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to enhance digital workflows, improve usability, and optimize content management systems.
  • Manage digital archiving of publications, congress materials, and engagement tools in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

Congress Deliverables Support

  • Support the planning, tracking, and execution of scientific congress deliverables, including coordinating deadlines for submissions, booth or presentation materials, and internal post-congress summaries.
  • Work with the Medical Writer and cross-functional teams to ensure timely preparation and dissemination of post-congress narrative decks and key data summaries.

Process and Compliance

  • Maintain documentation of publication and digital governance processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance collaboration across global and local teams.
  • Ensure all materials and activities adhere to company policies, medical governance, and applicable external regulations.
  • Support annual policy & handbook review activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (advanced degree preferred) in a scientific, communications, or business-related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management within medical affairs, scientific communications, or a related function in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting publication planning and submissions to journals and scientific congresses.
  • Strong understanding of scientific and medical communication processes, including familiarity with GPP and ICMJE guidelines.
  • Experience managing SharePoint or other content management systems (Veeva Vault, PubSTRAT, iEnvision, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of driving projects to completion with attention to detail and process rigor.
  • This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in project management-especially in a healthcare agency or training context
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Excel) and standard Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with digital strategy or digital operations in a medical or scientific context preferred.
  • PMP or similar project management certification a plus.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $125,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
