Overview
The Department of Physics at Utah State University invites applications for one (1) full-time (1 FTE), 9-month, non-tenure-track, renewable Lecturer position located at the Price Campus (USU Eastern). The start date for the position is August 1, 2026. This is a teaching-focused appointment (95% teaching, 5% service). Lecturers are expected to develop a record of exceptional teaching and effective service, play a mentorship role in undergraduate research, and engage in innovative course development.

Responsibilities
It is anticipated that this position will carry a 4-4 teaching load during the Fall and Spring semesters. The successful candidate will:
  • Deliver physics instruction to classes with enrollments ranging from fewer than 10 to several hundred students
  • Develop and teach lower-division physics courses that primarily serve non-physics majors. Instruction modalities include face-to-face, online, and broadcast formats. Potential courses include Astronomy (PHYS 1040), calculus-based Physics for Scientists and Engineers (PHYS 2210/2220) and the associated laboratories (PHYS 2215/2225), Physics of Technology (PHYS 1800), and Elementary Physics (PHYS 1010),
  • Develop a record of exceptional teaching and effective service, mentor undergraduate students, including research activities, and contribute to the operations and governance of the department, college, and university through meaningful service activities.


Qualifications
Required
  • Master's or PhD in Physics

Desired
  • University-level teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence, supported by student evaluations and/or peer classroom reviews.
  • Prior mentoring of undergraduates in research projects.
  • A vision for innovative course development and physics content delivery.
