We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Facilities Maintenance Personnel to join our team at a state-of-the-art pork processing plant. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the plant's equipment, systems, and infrastructure. You will be instrumental in maintaining and repairing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

You'll follow all company safety protocols, including LOCKOUT/TAGOUT procedures, and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performance environment. Your skills and attention to detail will directly contribute to the success of the team and the plant as a whole!

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Operate and maintain key plant machinery, including boilers, refrigeration systems, conveyors, fans, pumps, and motors. Perform regular checks and repairs to keep mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems running smoothly. Ensure all equipment runs efficiently to minimize downtime and keep production on track.

  • System Troubleshooting & Repairs: Quickly diagnose and fix issues with electrical and mechanical systems using schematics and manuals. Handle urgent problems during production to minimize disruptions and keep the plant moving. Troubleshoot complex systems like ammonia refrigeration and steam boilers to maintain smooth operations.

  • Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols and use proper PPE when handling hazardous materials. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards (OSHA, EPA, USDA) to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct regular safety checks to make sure all systems meet plant and regulatory requirements.

  • Facility Operations & Maintenance Support: Keep maintenance areas clean and organized, ensuring tools and materials are easy to access. Support critical plant areas like dry rooms and smokehouses to keep them running smoothly. Participate in routine maintenance for HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and waste systems to keep the plant operating efficiently.

  • Team Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and plant teams to prioritize tasks and manage repairs. Keep clear records of maintenance activities and repairs. Communicate effectively with plant staff to keep everyone informed about maintenance schedules and issues.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years' direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.

  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school. (Preferred).

  • Function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.

  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to read and execute work order, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
