Hourly Pay Range:

$30.46 - $45.69 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Electrician

  • Location: Arlington Heights, IL

  • Full Time, 40 hours

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

  • Required Travel: no

What you will do:

  • Responds to and follows through on work orders pertaining to electrical work. Investigates and corrects disruptions to power or lighting. Repairs inoperative lighting systems including ballast, starter, socket, relay, or switch replacement; rewires fixtures and reconfigures switch legs; installs and/or modifies light fixtures, switch legs, equipment hard wire installations, temporary power hookups, dedicated lines, high amperage lines, and additional power receptacles.

  • Performs initial troubleshooting for problems with Nurse Call, intercom, television, and paging systems; repairs Nurse Call controls; replaces defective stations or assemblies; installs and/or modifies paging speakers, volume controls, local and area-wide paging networks, special requirement Nurse Call controls, and local and remote alarm status indicators.

  • Performs initial troubleshooting for problems with hospital automated control systems including timed security access devices, parking lot gates, overhead motion sensors, presence detectors, outside light timers, and remote alarm indicators.

  • Performs routine periodic testing of hospital emergency power systems including automatic transfer switches and the electrical operation of the emergency power generators. Ensures proper operation of the emergency power system during hospital wide power outages.

  • Performs various electrical repairs on appliances, including food warmers, food dispensers, toasters, refrigeration units, ice machines, buffers, vacuums, exam lamps, x-ray viewers, etc.

  • Investigates potentially hazardous situations which may be related to or effect electrical power including reports of burnt odors, sparking, flooding, random disruption or reduction of power, and equipment malfunction due to electrical interference.

  • Determines, in conjunction with building engineers, causes and solutions to electrical problems related to motor condition, sizing, protection, and cycling.

  • Provides assistance, as necessary, to outside contractors, manufacturer service representatives, architects, and engineers, etc. to expedite job completion; contacts manufacturers to identify parts or assemblies required for repairs/installations; identifies items needing restocking or special order.

  • Performs testing and operation of 12K medium voltage equipment, 4160V Co-gen and Emergency Power systems and generators as required.

What you will need:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required and level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of a certified program in Electrical Maintenance and Construction, trade school, union or military program.

  • Certification: Journeyman license required and thorough knowledge of electrical theory, practice, troubleshooting, construction, local, state and 2017 National Electrical Code compliance necessary. Certified program in Electrical Maintenance and Construction, trade school, union or military program required.

  • Experience: Experience as an electrician working in a hospital/healthcare environment for a minimum of 5 years. Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, practice, troubleshooting, construction and local, state and 2017 National Electrical Code compliance.

  • Unique or Preferred Skills: The ability to perform electrical repairs, modify existing electrical installations, and install new electrical components and/or systems. The analytical skills necessary to investigate and troubleshoot electrical problems. The ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical specification sheets.
