THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to lead AMD's global privacy and data protection program. This rolereports to the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for driving the continuedscaling and execution of the privacy and data protection program. The Assistant General Counselwillpartner closely withcross-functionalteams to ensure privacy by design and privacy by default are embedded across AMD initiatives. The ideal candidate brings deep global privacyexpertise, experience leadingand scalingprivacy programs, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into risk based guidance that enables businessobjectives.

THE PERSON:

  • In house experience at afast-paced globalcompany, preferably in the technology sector.
  • Proventrack recordofsuccessfullyleadingandscaling a global privacy program.
  • Experience managing global privacy professionals.
  • Deepknowledgeof U.S. and international privacyand data protectionframeworks.
  • Experience advising on cross border data transfers and global data governanceinitiatives.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic, risk based legal advice to senior executives and business leaders and drive cross functional initiatives globally.
  • Strong drafting, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Creative problem solver with a pragmatic mindset, good sense of humor, and positive attitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and oversee AMD's global privacy program, including governance, policies, and operational alignment across regions.
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor on global privacy and data protection requirements, including GDPR, U.S. privacy laws, and other international regulatory frameworks applicable to AMD operations.
  • Act as the senior point of escalation for complex privacy issues, providing clear, pragmatic guidance to executive leadership and business teams on compliance obligations and risk mitigation.
  • Advise onprivacy by design and privacy by default considerations for products, services, AI enabled technologies, andglobal business initiatives.
  • Oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), privacy risk assessments, and related reviews for processing activities acrossjurisdictions.
  • Championglobal privacy governance by drafting, reviewing, andmaintainingprivacy policies, internal guidance, procedures, and training materials.
  • Partner with information security and incident response teams to oversee data incident preparedness and response, includingbreachassessment and notification obligations.
  • Advise oninternational data transfers, including the use of Standard Contractual Clauses, Transfer Impact Assessments, and other lawful transfer mechanisms.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate complex privacy and data protection provisions in commercial agreements, including vendor, customer, cloud, and technology agreements.
  • Monitor and assess legislative, regulatory, and enforcement developments globally and communicate relevant impacts to internal stakeholders.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of legal experience, includingsignificant experience inprivacy and data protection law.
  • Experience in the technology and semiconductor industry.

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degree from a reputed institution.
  • License to practicelaw in relevantjurisdiction (or registered in-house counsel equivalent).

Location: Austin, TX or Santa Clara, CA
