Chief Construction Engineer

Are you an innovative Professional Engineer with a specialization in technical disciplines like structural, geotechnical, or environmental engineering? As a Chief Construction Engineer, you will be the senior most technical expert on construction designs and methods for temporary works.

The Construction Engineering Group focuses on the "how" when it comes to constructing the work. This team of specialized engineers has extensive experience in designing and constructing various temporary works.

Develops and implements department policies and procedures to promote internal consistency over temporary works construction designs.

• Identifies and develops training for specialized construction methods, as needed.

• Reviews high risk work and takes senior responsibility over constructability on high risk, complex or highly innovative design works.

• Submits design for peer review or approval review in an accurate and timely manner to avoid construction delays on the project site. Determines team preparedness over individual seal authority.

• Provides constructability and technical design input on temporary works construction designs to ensure compliance with contract specifications and regulatory requirements.

• Designs and drafts construction methods for temporary works (falsework, shoring, temporary bridges, formwork, slopes, etc.), ensuring completeness and accuracy with regulatory standards and within the contract specifications.

• Reviews personal and peer design elements to optimize project constructability, cost effectiveness and material quantities.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural or related Engineering field required.

• Professional Engineering License (PE/PENG) required.

• Proven knowledge of AutoCAD, RISA suite, LARSA and MathCAD required.

• Able to delegate task to direct reports and teammates effectively to grow knowledge and team construction experience.

• Able and driven to mentor developing engineering team. Able to set clear expectations and support team to reach Company and departmental goals.

• Proven knowledge of temporary works construction practices and constructability innovation techniques.

• Proven success with creative, innovative and optimization strategies for construction challenges.

• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills. Proven interpersonal skills used to defend, clarify and explain construction strategies and designs for all levels of the Company.

• Clear, concise and efficient technical writing skills used in calculation packages.
