The PC Authorization Coordinator is primarily responsible for securing financial clearance for the patient, provider, and health system. The coordinator works closely with the administrative, clinical and management teams to support practice operations and customer service recovery and intervention efforts. Provides support for financial clearance functions including authorizations, PAFRs, LOAs billing and RFIs. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent with four years of related experience; or a college degree with six months of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Ability to successfully pass fingerprinting protocol and be approved as a cash collector, if applicable * Strong computer skills, including keyboarding and proficiency in at least two office software programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel); ability to navigate multiple patient record systems * Ability to sit at a computer terminal with telephone headset for extended periods * Ability to analyze situations, prioritize tasks, develop solutions, and make recommendations * Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment, including under deadline pressure * Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, both over the phone and in person * Basic math skills * Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals and handle sensitive patient interactions * Strong organizational and problem-solving skills * Strong writing skills, including composing, editing, and proofreading documents * Demonstrated administrative and office coordination skills * Knowledge of medical practice terminology * Ability to complete moderate to complex authorizations independently within six months of hire * Ability to manage work queues and utilize systems such as RightFax and authorization/certification tools * Ability to access and efficiently use payer websites and meet or exceed productivity requirements for authorizations * Ability to review and verify benefits, update systems (e.g., Apex), and manage staff messaging and authorization routing * Ability to use patient systems (e.g., MyChart) for scheduling, messaging, letters, and patient lookups * Ability to perform documentation tasks including comments, quick notes, and scanning Preferred Qualifications * Experience in healthcare settings (medical, dental, or veterinary) in areas such as patient scheduling, insurance verification, medical record abstraction, or patient financial services * Experience with appointment, ancillary service, or surgical scheduling * Bilingual or multilingual skills (Spanish, Cantonese, or Russian) * Experience with Epic

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
