The Shy Lab in the UCSF Department of Laboratory Medicine is recruiting a Staff Research Associate (SRA) to assist with cutting-edge cellular engineering projects. Our lab develops novel genome/epigenome editing strategies to reprogram human immune cells for therapeutic applications: including cancer, genetic diseases, and neurodegeneration. In this role, the SRA will explore state-of-the-art methods for genetically engineering primary human immune cells - with the goal of reprogramming these cells to perform new therapeutic functions in the brain. This position is well-suited for candidates interested in applying to PhD or MD/PhD programs within 2-3 years. Located in the Gladstone-UCSF Institute for Genomic Immunology, the Shy Lab is a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary academic environment.
