OSP Engineer - II

Responsibilities include surveying customer locations and the surrounding Network in order to provide a local design solution for the delivery of service. This includes the identification of Outside Plant Fiber Optic Network elements in proximity to the customer and determining methods of delivery to the customer's building. This role will require coordination with a variety of teams and will have direct contact with business and residential customers. Work will be performed in an outdoor environment and also indoors within customer premises.

Job Responsibilities:

• Planning and Designing additions, upgrades, repairs and enhancements.
• Selecting and pricing solutions based on the most effective, efficient, and timely design.
• Coordination with internal departments and customer focused communication with residential and business end-users, building contractors, and property owners to implement solutions appropriately.
• Fiber plant design, and general construction knowledge.
• Experience in telecommunications / data networking or wireless industry.
• Strong Computer Skills (Databases, Processes, and Administrative) - Comprehensive knowledge and skill for more complex applications to include Word, Excel, Visio, ArcGIS/ESRI, 3GIS, Google Earth, etc.
• Knowledge of the network plant and local practices.
• Experience with working application of engineering systems and databases.
• Working knowledge of right-of-way, property rights, and permit acquisition.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

• Knowledge of OSP engineering design principles and standards.
• Knowledge of FTTP facilities.
• Ability to independently perform OSP telecommunication facility surveys.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Knowledge of IDDS drafting system
