Overview

The IT Senior Project Manager for the AMI 2.0 Program will lead all phases of the project lifecycle and system integrator engagement activities, including pre-planning, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative. This role focuses on resource and task planning, technical blueprinting, business process design, and vendor coordination within a complex IT environment. Length of Assignment: 18M+Hybrid: If local to LA, Riverside, Orange, and San Bernadino Counties, onsite will be hybrid with 2 days in the office. Will consider remote applicants, must be willing to work M-F 8AM - 5PM PST (generally) with some planned onsite presence required for critical or key project activities.



Responsibilities

    Facilitate IT business process mapping and requirements clarification to ensure alignment with functional needs, technical delivery, and IT SI area of responsibility.
  • Develop a comprehensive resource plan based on technical scope, including roles, skillsets, and effort and cost estimates across workstreams (integration, data, infrastructure, and testing).
  • Will support the development and refinement of a high-level solution blueprint that defines scope, schedule, and budget from a technical lens - integrating infrastructure, data flows, and system interfaces to inform delivery planning.
  • Plan and coordinate the Planning & Analyze phases, including solution design validation, technical feasibility reviews, and preparation for Build phase activities including, e.g., environment readiness, development sequencing, testing strategy, and deployment rollout.


Qualifications

  • Education Requirement:
    Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, computer science, or other business-related disciplines (including liberal arts majors).
    Minimum Years of Experience: 10 Years
  • Experience managing large IT programs, resource planning, solution blueprinting, implementation planning, and overall end-to-end delivery management.
  • Large-scale IT program/project management in utilities or regulated industries.
    Experience with AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), smart grid, or large Electric Utility technology and infrastructure projects: AMI 1.0 or 2.0 preferred (at minimum some 1.0 exposure).
  • Understanding of the meter-to-cash process end-to-end.
  • Cloud migration/implementation experience (moving from on-prem to cloud).
  • Experience with utility technology needs, including strategic objectives and areas of investment focus.
  • Experience delivering/developing technical information to a non-technical audience as well as to senior leadership.
  • Major data conversion projects (millions of records).
  • Proficiency in utilizing data sets (MS Excel & Pivot Tables at minimum) to create and analyze information
  • Experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning or strategy/management consulting.
  • MS Project (required).
  • Octane (nice-to-have; strong plus if proficient).

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000 The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
