THE POSITION

Are you interested in an entry-level position helping veterans? The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs(DMVA), Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home is seeking dedicated and caring individuals. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Our enthusiastic and dedicated nursing staff provides 24-hour care, seven days a week. From helping our residents prepare for their day to assisting them to participate in engaging social activities, you will bring joy to our residents' lives. You will distribute meals, transport residents, change linens, clean medical equipment, and respond to requests for snacks and water. Through this day-to-day contact with our residents, you will have the ability to positively impact their quality of life by providing the best possible care.

This position is a starting step to a Nurse Aide position. You will receive both formal and hands-on training to care for our veteran residents. After completing an 8-hour online course, 16-hour classroom session, and an 80-hours orientation program, you will be eligible for promotion to a Nurse Aide position.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
