Job Description

The Supervisor Operations - Ophthalmic Clinic supervises ophthalmic technicians and support staff in the eye clinic and provides operational assistance as needed. Coordinates duties of ophthalmic clinical staff and works collaboratively with surgical and front desk staff and UHSC leadership team. Provides care for clinic patients with acute, chronic ophthalmic specialty needs. Performs assessments based on the patient's eye conditions and care needs. Utilizes the clinical process to plan perform, delegate, and evaluate the delivery of ophthalmic clinical care in the UH and LW eye clinic.

Provides leadership and assistant with coordination of daily operations in all Ophthalmic clinic areas. Actively participates in departmental quality assessment and performance improvement programs, budgetary monitoring, staffing oversight, payroll approval, and patient and staffing satisfaction/customer service activities. Works under the direction of the Department Director or designee

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or equivalent GED

  • 5 years ophthalmic clinical experience or the equivalent in a combination of fully related experience and COA or COT certification

  • Current JCAPHO certification, COA or COT

  • Demonstrated experience providing leadership to teams/staff

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to instruct staff and prepare documentation.

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills required.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement related to operational integrity and exemplary leadership in the development of staff teamwork.

  • Demonstrated ability in delivery of high levels of problem resolution.

  • High degree of professionalism and personal presence.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Must maintains CE's and ophthalmic certifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • COA or COT certification

  • 5 + years ophthalmic clinical experience

  • One year of leadership experience.
