Position Summary:
As a full-time assistant men's soccer coach in NJIT's intercollegiate athletic program, this function finds the incumbent responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the proper and overall management of an NCAA Division I Men's Soccer program competing in the America East Conference. These responsibilities include player development, on-field and in-game coaching, recruiting, and assisting with administrative aspects of the program. This position will also operate under University regulations and America East Conference and NCAA bylaws. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions:
Coaching Activities: This function finds the incumbent providing a full array of services related to the Men's Soccer program. By way of illustration and not limitation, this function:
-Assists in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team training and competition preparation.
-Serve as the recruiting coordinator. Assist in the identification and recruitment of prospective student-athletes for the intercollegiate program, in accordance with NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines and standards.
-Provides guidance and assistance to student-athletes on navigating the collegiate student athlete experience.
-Assists with player development. Under the supervision of the Head Coach, develop training methods to improve the overall skill development of the athletes both in/out of season.
-Assists in coordinating training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
-Assist with contest scheduling.
-Assist in managing the operating budget.
-In collaboration with the Head Coach, recommends the purchasing of equipment and uniform apparel as needed for the intercollegiate program.
-Provides assistance in the coordination and administration of the program as required including overseeing team travel arrangements.
-Participates in fundraising activities as needed in coordination with University Advancement, to supplement additional monies for the program.
-Represents the sports program to various institutional programs and to government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents and the general public.
-Work with athletic training staff as needed for the prevention and care of player injuries and other health related issues.


NCAA Compliance:
-Knowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA rules, regulations, bylaws, constitutions and related university rules, regulations and policies.

Additional Functions:
-Assist with clinics and camps for university and local community.
-Maintain current health certifications (First Aid, AED/CPR).
-Teach a Physical Education activity class.
-Performs other duties as assigned.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree required.
-Five years collegiate coaching experience or elite club level experience.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students required.
-Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in the area of sporting specialty. Knowledge of applicable team or individual sport and its playing rules.
-Must possess the ability to foster a cooperative environment.
-Must be able to organize and coordinate.
-Must have knowledge of NCAA student-athlete academic eligibility requirements & recruiting rules.
-Must have the ability to understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
-Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
-Must have a valid driver's license.
-Ability to travel evenings, as well as work evenings, weekends and holidays.

-AED/CPR and First-aid certified.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree preferred.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is $63,129.05-$93,200.46 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
