Note: This is a hybrid position based in Brooklyn, OH, requiring 4 days on-site per week.

Job Summary:

Plans and manages the financial operations, development and maintenance of claims billing, claims receivables, administration fee receivables and vendor payables for Mutual Health Services (MHS). Develops and maintains accounting records/systems and functional operations as specified by company policy, generally accepted accounting principles and legal specifications. Ensures the optimum utilization of MHS financial resources while adhering to accepted standards of internal control.

Responsibilities:



  • Oversees the accounting, financial reporting and budgeting process for MHS and MMS.
  • Monitors and improves the cash receipts and vendor payment processes to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Monitors and improves the claims billing processes to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Makes policy and procedure changes within the department which improve workflow or customer satisfaction.
  • Assures customer and vendor inquiry resolution.
  • Manages and monitors staff performance.
  • Coordinates various audits (e.g., SOC 1, financial statement, internal audits, group) .
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • 6 or more years of progressively responsible work experience in accounting or audit functions at the corporate level.
  • 10 or more years' experience preferred.


Professional Certification(s):



  • CPA or equivalent preferred.


Technical Skills and Knowledge:



  • Proven experience implementing and coordinating accounting objectives/procedures with senior management in a health care/insurance environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in developing and monitoring computerized accounting. Advanced knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
  • Information systems knowledge as acquired through education or experience. Advanced MS Office Skills, including MS Access.
  • Proven experience with operational accounting responsibilities specific to the revenue cycle.
