Summary

Reviews and analyzes residential loan applications submitted for applicants by Citizens Home Loans. The services performed by the Underwriter are a key component of the Bank's residential mortgage business, and of crucial importance to the organization and the continuous commitment of its funding sources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Complies with and stays abreast of all policies and procedures, federal and state

laws applicable to the job.

  1. Underwrite residential loan applications that meet the Bank's lending criteria and

policies.

  1. Examine and verify the application information and related documents to ensure

accuracy and completeness.

4. Ensure that all compliance regulations are adhered to.

5. Determine an affordable mortgage payment for the applicant and review applicant's

payment history and explanations.

6. Respond to all submissions within 24 hours or sooner if necessary.

7. Work with other associates to provide information and feedback on their submitted

applications.

8. Work with the Sales and Service Division associates regarding staff knowledge of

policies and procedures.

9. Develop and recommend modifications to policies and procedures

10. Organize and assist in advocacy campaigns as necessary.

11. Provide, present and promote The Citizens Experience to all external and internal

customers.

12. Other duties as may be required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, income tax returns, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook software in addition to having proficient computer skills. Strong preference will be made to an individual with experience using the Ellie Mae "Encompass" software processing system.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current driver's license.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to travel 5% of the time and be able to work more than 40 hours a week as needed which could include some evenings and weekends.

Other Skills and Abilities

Detailed oriented and well-organized with strong customer service and excellent communication skills are required. Good interpersonal relations and a team player with energy and enthusiasm are also necessary. Must be able to work under pressure. Bilingual speaking is a plus.

Salary Range:$87,612.00 To $124,846.00 Annually
