Division of Animal Sciences Job Description
Providing animal care, recordkeeping and support for the National Swine Resource and Research Center. These high-value animals are housed at multiple locations across campus and represent an important genetic resource for the biomedical community; therefore, the position must be able to maintain strict biosecurity across all sites. Job duties include, but are not limited to: 70% Feed and Care of NSRRC pigs 10% Breeding and farrowing which may include semen collection, litter processing and estrus detection 5% Record keeping 5% Swine health monitoring and care 5% Swine transport and maintenance of transport vehicles 5% Other duties as assigned, which may include; helping with euthanization, sample collections from live or morbid animals, and disposal of morbid animals at the VMDL. Shift
40 hours/week, workdays negotiable based on facility needs Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Possesses and utilizes broadened technical knowledge and skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $15.27 -$24.91 hourly. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
