What to Expect

Come join a small team of versatile engineers and data enthusiasts who sit at the center of Tesla's device telemetry and turn the petabyte-scale real-world data firehose into actionable insights.

Data powers Tesla's product and engineering culture. We leverage massive volumes of real-world data to improve vehicle firmware reliability, optimize hardware designs, proactively detect faults, enhance robotics systems, and balance load on the electrical grid. We collect data from our vehicles, Robotaxis, Superchargers, energy storage devices, and Optimus robots and follow the full lifecycle of these products and their software - uncovering patterns and driving improvements that make our products better and our customers safer.

Fleet Analytics is a central team that partners directly with firmware, hardware, robotics, autonomy, integration, automation, and other engineering teams. We help them through deep hands-on analysis and by building the production tools they rely on every day. We're looking for someone who has repeatedly turned messy, high-volume data into dashboards, internal tools, interactive visualizations, and enable AI driven decision making easier.

As builders, we transform high-value insights into robust full-stack web applications, software frameworks for efficient training and modeling, complex systems that drive action, and self-serve platforms so hundreds of engineers can move faster. You will own these applications from concept to production - including deployment, ongoing maintenance, community support, and on-call. Our stack runs on Spark, Trino with Python, SQL, React, Jupyter, Airflow (and whatever else gets the job done cleanly at petabyte scale).

If you love becoming dangerously knowledgeable about how complex systems actually work, obsess over elegant automation, and want your code to directly influence Tesla's journey to build a world of amazing abundance, you'll feel at home here.

What You'll Do
  • Build production-grade applications, data pipelines, and internal platforms that turn one-off deep dives into scalable, self-serve capabilities used by hundreds of engineers
  • Dive deep into telemetry and device data across Tesla's vehicles, Robotaxis, robotics systems, and energy products - delivering rigorous analysis that drives real design, reliability, and performance decisions
  • Create metrics, visualization tools, analytical systems, and software frameworks that make complex device data instantly actionable
  • Partner closely with firmware, hardware, robotics, autonomy, integration, automation, and other engineering teams on critical projects
  • Write clean, tested, and maintainable code (front-end to back-end to orchestration) and uphold high engineering standards
  • Own features from concept to production: deploy code, provide ongoing maintenance and community support, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure the reliability of the systems we build
  • Continuously identify better ways to look at data, automate toil, and raise the bar for the broader data community at Tesla

What You'll Bring
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and/or Scala
  • Experience building data pipelines and production data applications at scale
  • Experience with web applications
  • Experience writing software in a professional environment
  • Experience with infrastructure tools - e.g., Linux, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience using AI tools, LLMs, or agentic workflows to accelerate analysis, development, or automation
  • Genuine curiosity and first-principles problem-solving ability. You get excited about going deep into unfamiliar technical domains and emerging with clarity
  • Excellent collaborator who can earn trust with engineers from very different disciplines
