Job Purpose

Develop solutions, reports, and design documents to support substation modifications and construction, starting with small to medium scale complexity projects. Projects include modifications to existing sites as well as greenfield locations for new substation builds. Lead a multi-discipline project team (with support) of engineers and designers to meet project deliverables. Substations range from large transmission facilities to small distribution substations up to and including 345 kV.

Key Accountabilities
  • Perform preliminary engineering evaluations, develop project scope and schedules to support business strategy and capital investments.
  • Perform engineering calculations and studies to support project scope.
  • Lead multi-disciplined engineering team, providing support to project manager and project delivery process, to deliver project assignments.
  • Prepare comprehensive written and oral reports of technical challenges, investigative findings, and recommended solutions.
  • Participate in project estimating and economic analysis as needed.
  • Interface with internal design staff on construction document development.
  • Review drawings associated with projects, including work of designers, contractors and manufacturers' equipment submittals.
  • Manage consultant contracted work, ensuring compliance and technical adequacy against company standards and project scope.
  • Participate in the development of standards and procedures.
  • Perform field inspections for project development and post engineering print issuance for project compliance and construction support.
  • Support construction and project closeout activities.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years work experience related to electrical engineering industry. Experience does not need to be specific to substations, training specific to substations provided.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Coursework related to three-phase AC power, transformers, and electrical machines.
  • Basic knowledge on some industry standards and/or codes (IEEE, NESC, NEC, etc.)
  • Quality oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally to the organization.
  • Ability to physically navigate in and around an electrical substation.

Salary:
$97,000 - $114,000 per year
