Position Summary The Contract Safety Manager serves as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) and is responsible for implementing and enforcing the project safety program in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and contract requirements. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Develop, implement, and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan (APP). * Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of job sites. * Prepare and enforce Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs). * Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards. * Lead safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks. * Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions. * Maintain safety documentation and reporting requirements. * Coordinate with Government safety personnel. * Stop work when unsafe conditions are identified. * Promote a culture of safety across all project personnel. Required Qualifications * Minimum 5 years of safety experience on federal construction projects. * EM 385-1-1 training and demonstrated experience. * OSHA 30 certification required (OSHA 40 preferred). * Strong knowledge of construction safety practices. Physical Requirements * Frequent site inspections requiring walking, climbing, and standing. * Exposure to construction hazards and outdoor environments. Preferred Qualifications * CHST, CSP, or equivalent certification. * USACE project experience. | |
