Where you will work: This position offers a hybrid work option (up to 50% remote) and is based out of the Lakeville, MN, Mankato, MN or Sun Prairie, MN office locations.

The contributions you will make: The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic advisor and internal consultant to leaders and team members across assigned business units. This role aligns talent strategies with business objectives throughout all phases of the employment lifecycle. As a positive change agent and influential performance driver, the HRBP develops and implements integrated solutions in talent strategy, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, talent assessment and development, engagement, and policy interpretation. The HRBP also contributes to departmental planning, researches and advances best practices in talent management, and provides balanced guidance that supports both team member needs and organizational goals-helping to cultivate a workplace culture that positions Compeer as an employer of choice.

A typical day:


  • Acts as an internal strategic consultant to leaders by aligning people strategies with business objectives and operational needs while providing guidance on complex workforce decisions.
  • Consults with leaders on organizational design, scalability, and workforce effectiveness to strengthen performance and support future growth.
  • Uses workforce insights and trends to inform decisions and drive integrated talent strategies.
  • Partners with business units to diagnose organizational and talent challenges and recommend talent, cultural, or structural solutions that drive measurable outcomes.
  • Assists leaders to prioritize initiatives, assess impacts, and ensure alignment across people, process, and business strategies.
  • Partners with leaders to execute core talent processes, including performance management, talent reviews, and workforce planning.
  • Facilitates organizational changes such as restructures, role changes, and workforce adjustments, ensuring clear communication and proper documentation.
  • Partners with HR Learning & Development to identify, design, and facilitate various learning and development programs, initiatives, and activities to support the strategic direction of the organization and the professional development of team members.
  • Supports inclusive and equitable talent practices that strengthen organizational capability and culture.
  • Coaches leaders on team member engagement, leadership effectiveness, and workforce planning.
  • Provides coaching and support to leaders on employee relations matters, including performance issues, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Manages individual project work and initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Partners with leaders to develop and execute hiring strategies aligned with workforce plans, critical skill needs, and business priorities.
  • Supports hiring efforts by advising leaders on market insights, candidate profiles, selection decisions, and inclusive hiring practices.
  • Conducts full cycle recruitment and selection efforts within assigned business units to source and procure high quality, diverse talent.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates peoplerelated risks, including employee relations, compliance, organizational change, and workforce risks, while ensuring HR practices meet legal and policy requirements and are applied consistently and fairly across the organization.

The skills and experience we prefer you have:


  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Intermediate-level human resources experience, with employee relations and recruitment experience preferred.
  • Professional Human Resources Certification strongly preferred (PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP).
  • Understands Compeer's business objectives, strategy, processes and operations.
  • Solid knowledge of performance management, coaching and development practices.
  • Understands recruitment strategies and developed interviewing techniques.
  • Team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high paced work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgement to management sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships and interact with team members on all levels.
  • Advanced client service, collaboration, interpersonal, conflict resolution, communication and presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of state and federal employment law, such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Worker's Compensation, EEO, etc.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills.
  • Experience with confidential information.
  • Experience working with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and applicant tracking software, payroll systems.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.
