GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This is the first of two levels in the Marketing series for the Clarksville Gas & Water Department. Incumbents support the marketing efforts of the assigned department or function by developing and designing marketing materials and/or participating in department, public or customer events, and for regulatory compliance mandates as needed. Responsibilities may include graphic design, creating social media content, writing and editing new releases and public notices, copy for websites, updating websites, coordinating interns and/or volunteers, providing service information to customers, and maintaining records of marketing efforts and results.


Example of Duties

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  1. Creates a variety of presentations, publications, and marketing materials, which may include creating graphics for print and digital marketing; writing and editing copy for websites; updating websites; summarizing customer statistics; writing, editing and updating news information; and performing related activities.

  2. Publish news releases, advisories and public notices of emergency and planned department utility construction work or contracted construction projects.

  3. Creates social media content for the Clarksville Gas and Water departments.

  4. Assists department divisions with the design and development of creative branding of events and programming support.

  5. Edits and proofreads publications and communication materials to ensure content meets established design criteria and for regulatory compliance mandates as needed.

  6. Maintains records, educational and promotional inventories of marketing efforts.

  7. Collects and summarizes marketing and advertising statistics.

  8. Provides internal and external customer service, which may include responding to a variety of inquiries and collaborating with employees and customers to determine event needs.

  9. On-call availability is required for this position.

  10. Performs other related work as required.



Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred but not required.

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.

  • One (1) year of experience in graphic design, visual communication, marketing, communications, or a related field.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.

License and Certifications:
  • Possession of a valid Class D Driver's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.

  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

  • Visual ability 1: sufficient to perform an activity like preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.

  • Visual ability 4: sufficient to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, both day and night.

  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or move from one work site to another.
