We are looking for a highly motivated Chemical Data Engineer in our Chemical Artificial Intelligence group located in Sugar Land, Texas. What You Will Do:

  • Perform data cleaning and time-series processing (alignment, resampling, missing data, outliers, drift).

  • Integrate online signals (e.g., turbidity, oil-in-water, pH, alkalinity, conductivity, flow, pressure, temperature) via edge/gateway to cloud.

  • Implement industrial connectivity using MQTT, Modbus, OPC-UA (and REST where needed).

  • Build reliable data pipelines: streaming ingestion, storage, metadata/tag modeling, monitoring/alerts.

  • Support hardware/embedded integration to read/write pump flow-rate setpoints and interface with valves/actuators safely.

  • Collaborate with chemistry/process teams to connect signals to process KPIs and integrate with existing models (pump/valve simulation, control-oriented analytics).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or related field

  • 3 years in the data science field

  • Experience with Industrial automation exposure: PLC/SCADA/DCS concepts and constraints.

  • Solid understanding of Edge/IoT integration and protocols: MQTT, Modbus, OPC-UA.

  • Prior experience with Programming: Python plus C/C++ (or similar) for device/embedded integration.

  • Strong fundamentals in time-series data quality and production reliability.

  • Experience connecting sensor data to databases/time-series storage/cloud services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in data science or related fields

  • 3+ years in the data science field

  • Strong chemical, oil & gas, or industrial water treatment background

  • Prior experience with Chemical injection / metering systems and basic process control.

  • Experience with Azure IoT (or similar cloud IoT stack) and lab instrument integration.

  • Familiarity with field-hardened deployments and basic safety/hazardous-area constraints.
