Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting in designing, implementing, and maintaining wildfire mitigation plans and processes for the Power Grid Operations organization. Responsibilities focus on deploying processes and procedures within distribution and transmission functions of Power Grid Operations, including wildfire resiliency plans and programs to manage emergencies, protect employees and assets, and ensure business continuity; maintaining the tools and data sources used in the wildfire mitigation and response strategy; designing, and implementing control methods and standards, monitoring adherence to standards, responding to concerns, resolving and mitigating issues and advising the business on rules, controls, and industry best practices. Responsibilities
Coordinate development and maintenance of plans and programs for the Duke Energy Wildfire Mitigation and Response program. Key responsibilities include review/revision of the program documents on a periodic schedule. This requires monitoring industry trends, possible regulations, and ongoing efforts by utilities to manage wildfire risk. Oversee tools and applications used by the wildfire program which include, but are not limited to, situational awareness tools, operational outlook system(s), the fire reporting system, and the data contained in those systems; maintain the PGO Wildfire Mitigation and Response SharePoint site. Lead or support strategic company or jurisdictional initiatives related to wildfire mitigation Collaborate with leadership in Operations, Customer Service, Enterprise Preparedness Services, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, Meteorology, Asset Management, and other internal organizations to support interdepartmental coordination. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding company strategies and objectives during emergent and non-emergent activities. Provide regulatory strategy analysis, reporting, and support Attend company meetings and briefings and support Emergency Preparedness for Power Grid Operations beyond wildfire mitigation as necessary.
Required/Basic Qualifications for Business & Tech Consultant
Associate's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Communications or Other Related Degree In addition to required degree, two (2) or more years related work experience In lieu of Associate's degree(s) AND two (2) or more years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND four (4) or more years related work experience
Required/Basic Qualifications for Senior Business & Tech Consultant
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration, Information Technology, Communications or Other Related Degree In addition to required degree, three (3) or more years related work experience In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s) AND three (3) or more years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND seven (7) or more years related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of electric utility operation Knowledge or experience in wildfire science/forestry/vegetation management Knowledge of NWCG S-130, NWCG S-190, and FEMA ICS-100 Research and analytical skills Experience in data analysis including research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data Experience in project management Experience in process development Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and associated principles Demonstrated ability to work self-directed Superior written and oral communication skills Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills Demonstrated conflict management skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Working Conditions
Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to a designated Duke Energy facility. Travel 10% with occasional overnight stay required Support major storm / event activities when needed Availability to work extended hours as needed
