SUMMARY: The Drafter is responsible for creating drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of machinery and mechanical devices.



  • Develop detailed designs for mechanical equipment and controls

  • Create 3D models from old mylar prints

  • Provide details on component descriptions

  • Resolve design problems

  • Make revisions/corrections to prints after machining to reflect actual inspection assembly of the tool

  • Review and analyze specifications

  • Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery

  • Compute dimensions of materials and purchase accordingly

  • Correct operating deficiencies

  • Draft technical details

  • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures

  • Draw in minute details of structures

  • Design the parts of a machine

  • Consult technical handbooks and tables while in drafting phase

  • Use Computer Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings 3D

  • Create and store drawings electronically

  • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems

  • Program drawings into automated manufacturing systems

  • Prepare variations of design

  • Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications

  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Keep all walkways and aisle free of any debris or clutter. Maintain 5S standards by returning tools to shadow boards. Sweep floor and finishing area as needed.

  • Daily attendance is a requirement for the job, as is arriving on time. Overtime is expected when customer demand dictates the need.

  • Other duties may be assigned. Support with miscellaneous plant functions (i.e. plant layouts, automation projects, application engineering, etc.)


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE

Associates degree and/ or 2-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Proficient at using a Windows based PC, using email, working knowledge of excel

Knowledge of CAD Systems (Inventor)

3D Molding

Ability to establish relationships with employees, peers and vendors

Ability to multi-task

Dependable

Experience with Inventor Vault, Enovia/3DX is preferred but not required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, such as blueprints, work orders, equipment operational manuals, and follow verbal instructions.

Ability to write reports, fill out work orders, and additional work needed forms.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
