Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is currently seeking a Construction Estimator to join our team in Austin, TX! The Construction Estimator will provide and/or coordinate components of complete and accurate estimates on various size projects and all types of contracts.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

The Estimator position is an entry level position working towards the position of Lead Estimator. Some of the functions and responsibilities that the Estimator position will be working towards include:


  • Act as an Estimate Team Leader on various projects, thus coordinating the total estimating effort relevant to particular project proposals as assigned.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-proposal meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Prepare estimate by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
  • Provide technical support to personnel preparing quantity takeoffs for assigned proposals.
  • Coordinate with Marketing personnel regarding technical aspects/requirements of assigned estimates.
  • Participate in pre-proposal meetings, bid strategy and presentation meetings as required.
  • Assist Project Team (Project Manager and Superintendent) in evaluating submitted proposals during project buyout and contracting phase.
  • Prepare for and participate in project "Handoff Meetings" from Estimating to Operations.
  • Perform additional duties per supervisor's direction.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in construction estimating, with a preference for a background in commercial construction.
  • Proficiency in commonly used industry software, including On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, CostOS, Trimble HCE, as well as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Possesses fundamental computer and technology skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.
  • Holds a valid Texas driver's license and meets company auto insurance eligibility requirements.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
