DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will work with children, youth, and adults in achieving safety and independence within their homes and community, as well as work with local education agencies and identified schools to implement the Early Reach Initiative. You will provide counseling, including vocational counseling, information, referral, and advocacy services to students with disabilities to enhance their successful transition from school to services provided by OVR and eventual employment. Services are designed to assist individuals in their homes, schools, and communities to work and maintain independent lives.
Work involves gathering customer information through comprehensive interviews, analyzing information to determine their eligibility for services, and collaborating with each customer to develop a mutually agreed upon service plan. This includes providing counseling and guidance, referrals to other agencies and services, and information on diagnostic and other services; arranging, approving, and preparing requests for expenditures; and liaising with external agency resources to help each customer identify and engage with resources and supports needed to achieve the goals identified in their plan. You will also evaluate and document customer progress, help modify service plans when needed, and advocate on behalf of each person, their success, and their wellbeing. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary: Most employees will start at the beginning level of the advertised salary $59,345 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
- Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
- Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
- A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:

- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
