Job Summary: We are seeking a CNC Machinist/Programmer proficient in conversational programming to program, set up, and operate CNC mills/lathes . You will translate blueprints into machine instructions directly at the controller-bypassing external CAM software-to produce high-quality parts. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, prototype, or low-volume production environments, utilizing onboard
control features to optimize cycle times and ensure precision.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conversational Programming: Directly input part geometry, tooling, and machining parameters into the CNC controller (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, or similar) to generate machine paths.
  • Setup & Operation: Perform machine setup, including tool selection, fixture preparation, and work offset calibration.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex technical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and engineering specifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure compliance with specifications; make necessary offsets or program adjustments to maintain tolerances.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and rectify machining issues (tool wear, chatter, finish quality) during production runs.
  • Workflow Optimization: Manage quick-turnaround jobs by efficiently using conversational canned cycles and pre-programmed settings.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine machine preventative maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience in a CNC machining role with a heavy emphasis on conversational programming.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of speeds, feeds, material properties, and cutting tool selection.

  • Independence: Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks in a production environment.
  • Attitude: Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and willing to work overtime as required by production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with specific control interfaces (e.g., Mazatrol, Fagor, Haas NGC, Hurco).
  • Ability to perform basic G-code editing if conversational limits are reached.
  • Prior experience in prototype, job shop, or tool & die environments.
