Your Role

JLL Design is shaping the future of the built environment, and we are seeking a visionary Senior Design Manager to be a pivotal leader in our Tysons/DC practice. This is a unique entrepreneurial opportunity to partner with practice leadership to drive our growth, champion design excellence, and build a market-leading team.

As a Senior Design Manager, you will be instrumental in elevating our studio's presence and capabilities. You will be accountable for management quality across projects, the cultivation of robust client relationships, and will work closely with leadership to ensure the operational success of the practice. This multifaceted role requires a leader who can inspire a team, assist in delivering transformative design solutions, and drive business results.

What You Will Do

  • Leadership: Champion a culture of innovation, critical thinking, and project excellence within the team. You will lead projects from initial concept through execution, ensuring the design vision is delivered impeccably and exceeds client expectations.

  • Client Engagement & Business Development: Serve as a primary client contact on projects of all scales, building and nurturing lasting relationships. You will develop and deliver compelling presentations, articulate design concepts, and actively partner with leadership to identify and win new project opportunities.

  • Team Mentorship & Growth: Lead, manage, and mentor: You will be responsible for fostering the professional growth of team members, cultivating a collaborative environment, and helping to recruit top talent as the practice scales.

  • Business Acumen & Practice Management: In partnership with leadership, you will take shared ownership of the studio's financial performance and project delivery. You will ensure projects are managed to scope, schedule, and budget, directly contributing to the studio's success and profitability.

Your Qualifications

  • A professional degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design is required.

  • Professional Licensure (AIA) or Certification (NCIDQ/IIDA) is strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial architecture or interior design, with a significant portfolio of built work.

  • Proven experience in a design leadership role, with a track record of managing teams, mentoring staff, and overseeing multiple complex projects.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and persuade a sophisticated client base.

  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to help build a successful practice.

  • Strong client-facing experience and an established network within the local market is highly desirable.

Estimated compensation for this position:

152,000.00 - 220,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
