Position Overview

Washington, DC.

Secret Clearance required.

The Senior Acquisition analyst provides advisory support to government program leadership in the planning, execution, and administration of complex Department of Defense acquisition efforts. This role leverages prior experience as a Contracting Officer or senior acquisition professional to support program offices in navigating contracting strategies, acquisition documentation, and regulatory compliance across the full program lifecycle.

The SME serves as a trusted advisor to program leadership, ensuring acquisition planning, contract execution, and program documentation align with DoD acquisition policies and federal contracting regulations. The position requires strong knowledge of Navy acquisition environments and the ability to translate contracting requirements into actionable program support within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities



  • Provide subject matter expertise in federal contracting and acquisition strategy to support program office planning, contract execution, and program lifecycle management.
  • Advise government leadership on acquisition approaches, contracting strategies, and regulatory compliance in accordance with FAR, DFARS, and DoD acquisition policy.
  • Review acquisition documentation and contracting packages, providing recommendations on Statements of Work, contract modifications, procurement strategies, and supporting documentation.
  • Support the development and review of acquisition documentation including acquisition strategies, program baselines, milestone documentation, and other program decision materials.
  • Provide guidance on contract administration activities including modifications, scope changes, deliverable tracking, and contractor performance oversight.
  • Assist program leadership in coordinating with contracting activities, legal advisors, and technical stakeholders to support effective procurement execution.
  • Analyze acquisition timelines, funding execution, and contractual milestones to ensure program objectives align with approved acquisition strategies.
  • Provide expert insight during milestone reviews, program reviews, and acquisition decision events.
  • Prepare and review briefings, reports, and correspondence supporting program leadership decision making.
  • Track program deliverables and contractual obligations, ensuring alignment with acquisition schedules and government requirements.
  • Support coordination and execution of program management reviews, contract reviews, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Maintain program documentation repositories and support information management across program teams.
  • Engage with government leadership, contracting organizations, and industry partners to ensure effective communication and execution of contractual objectives.


Basic Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Acquisition Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting DoD or Department of the Navy acquisition, contracting, or program management environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal contracting processes including FAR, DFARS, and DoD acquisition policies.
  • Prior experience as a Contracting Officer, Contract Specialist (1102), or acquisition professional supporting complex government programs.
  • Working knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle processes and program management frameworks.
  • Experience supporting acquisition documentation development and program decision support materials.
  • Ability to develop briefings, reports, and analytical documentation for senior government leadership.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to operate in a dynamic program office environment.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of DoD or Navy acquisition and contracting experience.
  • Prior experience supporting Navy program offices or shipbuilding-related acquisition programs.
  • Experience supporting ACAT I or ACAT II acquisition programs.
  • Familiarity with program executive office operations, acquisition documentation development, and program milestone processes.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or DAWIA certification in Contracting or Program Management.
  • Experience supporting Foreign Military Sales or related international acquisition programs.
