Manufacturing Engineering Internship- Summer 2026

DEKA Research and Development is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our growing team. This position will assist with manufacturing the component for a self administrable vaccine patch. The candidate will have a combination of an understanding of traditional manufacturing processes and modern skills related to technology. The successful candidate would be comfortable with a variety of digital systems, digital technologies, data and AI systems.Skills such asspending time using tools, machines, or your hands to create products or components. Experience in assembly, forming, molding, joining, casting, and finishing would be desirable.

DEKA offers Internships and Co-Ops for full time students* (must be at least 18 years of age). Internships last a minimum of 10 weeks, 12 preferred. All summerinternships must start no later than June 15, 2026.

How you will make an impact as a Manufacturing Engineer Intern:
  • Small component manual assembly
  • Record data and document the process
  • Use microscopes and sensors to determine component quality
  • Use jmp or other statistical analysis software to derive specification ranges
  • Report the data with conclusions and recommendations
  • Propose specifications for the process parameters
  • Develop automated data acquisition
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering staff with project work, such as:
    • Assist with engineering and development builds to test prospective designs
    • Evaluate manufacturing processes used in the fabrication of new designs
    • Design and develop assembly and test fixtures
    • Assist with build preparation and execution for development builds
To be successful as a Manufacturing Engineer intern you will need the following skills:
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Manufacturing/ Mechanical/ Biomedical/ or IndustrialEngineering program
  • Must have general lab experience and skills
  • Must have hands on mechanical experience
    • Professional mechanical experience preferred, but hobby/informal experience will be taken into account as well
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • CAD software, SOLIDWORKS specifically, skills/experience required
    • Formal training or coursework in CAD is a plus
  • Data entry and analysis.
  • Proficient using excel and statistical software e.g. jmp.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented

*Applicants should be aware that short-term housing options in Manchester, NH are limited and that DEKA is not able to assist with housing.

*A full time student is defined as being enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester at an undergraduate program, or a minimum of 9 credits per semester for a graduate program.
