Summary

The Business Development Manager - Energy Sector drives AMPP's growth and market influence in oil, gas, pipeline, and power infrastructure. This role focuses on expanding revenue, strategic partnerships, and member engagement by positioning AMPP's standards, certifications, and training programs as essential solutions for energy asset protection and performance. The manager translates strategy into measurable business results, strengthens relationships with key industry stakeholders including regulators, and increases AMPP's visibility across global energy markets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned

Business Growth & Strategy



  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with AMPP's energy market goals.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, market segments, and partnership initiatives.
  • Expand adoption of AMPP programs, certifications, and training across upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors.
  • Lock in 3-5 in-house training sessions annually with energy organizations to deepen client relationships and revenue streams.
  • Drive business pipeline growth through targeted outreach, proposal development, and relationship building.


Stakeholder Engagement & External Relations



  • Build and maintain strong relationships with energy asset owners, operators, EPC contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Represent AMPP at conferences, webinars, client meetings, and industry events to promote solutions and thought leadership.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and spokesperson, clearly communicating AMPP's value proposition to executives and decision-makers.


Proposal, Contract & Market Management



  • Lead proposal development, RFP responses, and strategic bid coordination.
  • Support federal, state, and corporate procurement initiatives, ensuring compliance and alignment with industry requirements.
  • Monitor energy market trends, funding opportunities, and policy developments to inform proactive business positioning.


Internal Collaboration & Operational Execution



  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure programs and services meet market needs.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to deliver high-impact initiatives and measurable outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, tools, and systems to support scalable business growth.


Measurement & Reporting



  • Manage CRM systems and performance metrics to track pipeline, revenue, and engagement outcomes.
  • Provide insights on market opportunities, competitor activity, and industry trends to inform leadership decisions.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for executive and external stakeholders.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provides direct leadership to assigned cross-functional teams, including project coordination, performance oversight, and strategic alignment of goals.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS



  • Up to 50-60% travel is required, including both domestic and international trips. A valid passport is required.


Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, marketing, or a related field required;
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships in the energy sector.
  • Proven success in securing new business, expanding market presence, and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience with energy companies, pipeline operators, or EPC contractors highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of energy standards, asset integrity programs, and regulatory frameworks a plus.


Skills & Abilities



  • Strong communication, presentation, and executive-level relationship skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, sales pipeline management, and business analytics tools.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to evaluate market opportunities, ROI, and strategic business initiatives.

This role operates in both a professional office setting and at customer or project sites. While in the office, the employee uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The position requires frequent travel, both domestic and international, and may involve extended hours to meet project or customer needs.
