Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS) Job Summary
The Financial Analyst is responsible for complex financial analysis for several clinics and Divisions in the Department. This individual uses advanced skills and has experience managing high-volume, complex transactions that require a full understanding of policies and procedures. They will work independently on problems of diverse scope where data analysis considers multiple factors. They will assist the supervisor in annual budget preparation and monitor and resolve deficit balances.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $81,300 - $172,300 (Annual Rate). The Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS) is the largest of four departments in the School of Dentistry at UCSF, and is responsible for teaching in excess of 67% of the pre-doctoral DDS curriculum and the majority of the International Dentist Program.

We provide comprehensive oral health care services with over 120,000 patient visits per year. We offer a four-year DDS program as well as a two-year program for international dentists that culminates in the DDS degree. We have numerous specialty residencies, PhD and Master's degree programs in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, a combined DDS-PhD program, and a combined PhD-dental specialty training program. Other graduate programs include Craniofacial and Mesenchymal Biology and Bioengineering, and a DDS/MBA program. The School is one of the preeminent oral and craniofacial research enterprises in the world, ranking number one in National Institute of Health funding. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum of three years of experience
- Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel to create spreadsheet
- Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Knowledge of UC Accounting practices, purchasing, and reimbursement
- Experience working in an academic environment
- Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
- Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
- Demonstrated record of reliability and excellent attendance
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Prior Experience with BearBuy, MyExpense, UC Path and EPIC
- Prior Experience working directly with research faculty
