Department Overview

The hardworking coworkers of Electric Engineering ensure all manners of electric engineering-including electric standards and process safety, electric design engineering, instrumentation testing and controls, undergrounding, electric regulatory compliance and electric investment planning-are in place to safely enable a strategic and stable workplan for our Electric Operations partners. Our organization is accountable for program planning, financial budgeting, and project execution and delivery of all electric engineering projects. Electric Engineering is comprised of approximately 2,000 coworkers.

Position Summary

Manages aspects of program implementation and operations. Ensures program is operating effectively.

This position is hybrid, and requires 1 day per week in the office.The assigned work location will be within the Bay Area or Sacramento Greater Area.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $144,000
Bay Area Maximum: $244,000

OR

California Minimum: $137,000
California Maximum: $232,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Independently supports program work that may include data management strategy, planning, and execution with minimal to no management oversight.
  • Plans, manages and controls some or all the following: Risk Management, Quality Management, Data Management and Analysis, Metrics and Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting, Research, & Business
  • Process Improvement, Project Management
  • Uses knowledge of engineering, quality, and mapping standards, business processes and related impacts to ensure asset data information is traceable, verifiable, accurate and complete to support several business applications or processes for data inquiries.
  • Leads the identification, analysis, and mitigation of business risks associated with mapping and asset registry data. Suggests corrective and preventive mitigations utilizing quality methods such as Failure Mode, Effect Analysis and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Supports the development of Project and Program Plans including but not limited to feasibility analysis, business case development, development of project scope, and provide recommendations on the alternative solutions, project strategy and deliverable prioritization
  • Develops metrics and monitors performance of work within assigned program.
  • Collects, consolidates and analyzes work completion information to determine overall trend. Develops and delivers presentations on program status, risk and corrective measures to leaders of various levels, including executives.
  • Leads or participates in process improvement initiatives for program management. Ensures consistency with related work processes, standards and procedures. May function as a consultant, subject matter expert or a project manager depending upon the needs of the various business partners. Applies effective process management principles (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma) for process development and/or re-engineering.
  • Ensures work is prioritized based on risk, quality, benefit realization, available resources, size of the project portfolio, costs, exposures or customer needs, while remaining compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Partners with multiple stakeholders in developing policies and relevant governance, processes, infrastructure, documentation and tools to support the program.
  • Coaches less experienced staff/peers to achieve the team's objectives.
  • Typically assigned to multiple programs or may be assigned to one significantly large, complex program. Approximate program portfolio size of 1 to 3 programs, totaling multi-million dollars in annual work.
  • Participates in the annual planning for assigned program work, considering factors that might affect demand for work, expected volumes and unit costs, partnering with related departments/leaders. May be involved in long term forecasting. May also prepare detailed cycle work plans and/or regular reviews of actual work completions vs. forecasts and partner with team and leadership to address variances.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 10 years

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification
