Overview

The Vice President of Cloud Economics & Business Operations owns the financial and operational performance of Hyland's cloud platforms as a business. This role is accountable for establishing clear cloud unit economics improving margin and predictability and enabling informed investment decisions across products as the company accelerates its transition from on-premises infrastructure to public cloud platforms.
This leader partners closely with Engineering Product Sales Finance and Operations to ensure cloud spend translates into measurable customer value sustainable growth and improved profitability.



Responsibilities

    Own cloud unit economics across products including cost drivers margins and profitability trends. Establish and maintain a cloud P&L view in partnership with Finance. Translate cloud consumption into clear financial narratives for executives and the board. Drive disciplined investment decisions tied to ROI NPV and long-term value creation.
  • Lead FinOps strategy and execution across all cloud environments. Eliminate waste through improved visibility allocation and accountability for cloud spend. Define policies and governance for forecasting optimization and consumption management. *Partnerwith Engineering and SRE to balance cost reliability and performance trade offs.
  • Oversee environment lifecycle management from provisioning through decommissioning. Shorten decommissioning cycles and reduce stranded costs across customer environments. Partner with Sales and Customer teams to support customer environments from inception onward. Ensure pricing consumption models and environment design align with margin targets.
  • Own the cloud data warehouse inputs related to cost usage and operational KPIs. Define a concise executive-ready KPI framework focused on outcomes and business impact. Enable proactive forecasting and scenario modeling to inform planning and growth.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team spanning FinOps analytics and lifecycle operations. Establish clear operating rhythms and decision frameworks across functions. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CTO CFO CCO and executive leadership team.
  • Orchestrates the budgeting process including strategy allocation and reconciliation
  • Create strategic vision and collaborate with executive management to define and ensure success of strategy in alignment with organizational objectives
  • Provide managerial direction and oversee all aspects of performance management for direct reports. Measure and hold all direct reports accountable for meeting defined goals and operational standards; ensure management teams are defining and holding teams accountable for all aspects of performance management of direct reports
  • Oversee and hold management accountable for all Human Resources-related managerial functions and responsibilities associated with hiring compensation management employment relations and termination of employees. Approve and ensure the overall hiring aligns to department budget and forecast
  • Oversee the development of future leaders and assist in identifying leadership potential within the team that aligns with the people strategy
  • Act as a strategic influencer to internal and external peers industry groups and/or customers
  • Serve as the final escalation point for highest priority issues; provide direction and guidance to assist with resolution of issues
  • Work with executive leadership to plan and set the strategic vision organizational structure operating policies and procedures and management practices to ensure department delivers operational excellence
  • Work closely with appropriate stakeholders and business leaders to ensure success to drive collaborative work across departments


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Senior leadership experience in cloud economics FinOps platform operations or technology finance
  • Proven ability to understand and translate between business objectives and engineering realities
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with engineering teams in complex scaled environments
  • Strong fluency in cloud consumption models across AWS and Azure
  • Experience partnering with Finance on P&L ownership forecasting and investment tradeoffs
  • Executive communication skills with experience presenting to C-suite and board audiences
  • MBA preferred or equivalent experience combining financial rigor with technical leadership
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility/accountability in managing budgets
