Job Summary: The Director-Rehabilitation Therapy for East Campus hospital is responsible for financial, administrative, and human resource management of inpatient rehabilitation and assigned Inpatient therapy departments. Promotes value in the programs and services offered. Identifies opportunities to maximize Inpatient Rehabilitation Reimbursement. Ensures compliance with external regulatory requirements that could include Title 22, JCAHO, CMS, CCS, or CARF and third party payors, and all departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Ensures quality patient care and treatment. Collaborates with hospital and departmental marketing to develop new programs, and increase new lines of business. Educates staff in regulatory requirement of Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI). Chairs and/or serves on assigned committees, task forces and CQI teams. Ensures compliance with inpatient rehabilitation 60% rule. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology required. MBA or MHA preferred. Minimum five years of experience in health care administration or rehabilitation required. Minimum five years of direct management and/or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of CMS, JCAHO and CARF regulations preferred. Knowledge of health care systems, rehab, and scheduling skills are essential. Able to communicate positively and effectively with staff, physicians, referrals, colleagues and administrators. Leadership and organizational skills are essential. Ability to organize and analyze data, handle very stressful situations, excellent business and financial acumen. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e. g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Current California Occupational Therapist (OT), Physical Therapist (PT) or Speech Pathologist Licensure required.
