What You'll Do

The Dental Assistant Supervisor provides daily supervision, leadership, and operational oversight for dental assistants and assigned hygienists at TUSDM. This role ensures that clinical operations run smoothly during their assigned shift. There are two Supervisors - one covering the morning/early afternoon shift and one covering the late afternoon/evening shift - to provide continuous leadership coverage during all hours of clinic operation. The Supervisor manages daily assignments, monitors attendance, provides coaching and performance feedback, and ensures compliance with infection control and clinical protocols. As a working supervisor, the individual also performs chairside and support duties when necessary to maintain service levels. Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Support Services, the Supervisor acts as the first line of escalation for faculty, student, and staff issues related to dental assistant coverage and performance.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a dental assistant, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices, OSHA, BORID, and DPH regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction, coaching, and feedback to staff.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to urgent staffing or clinical needs during assigned shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an academic dental or healthcare setting.
  • Experience supervising teams across multiple clinics or departments.
  • Familiarity with electronic scheduling and clinical systems.
  • CDA-Certified Dental Assistant or equivalent advanced certification.

Pay Range

Minimum $33.00, Midpoint $39.30, Maximum $45.60

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
