Summary of Position

The Manager Maintenance is responsible for the Safety, Quality and Cost Effectiveness of the maintenance activities within the manufacturing and building facilities operations in their area. The responsibilities include supervising, directing and coordinating the maintenance activities within the area as well as the direct supervision of Maintenance Technicians. The Manager should be a problem solver with the ability to coordinate and direct maintenance activities within the changing demands of manufacturing and the facility. The Manager will oversee the preventative and corrective maintenance programs to ensure that maintenance work is performed in accordance with all regulatory and plant requirements. The Manager will develop and conform to annual facility budgets; manage the maintenance expertise to perform and assist with the plant operation/maintenance outages; and monitor mechanical/electrical/I&C maintenance work to ensure that all work is conducted using proper industrial and applicable plant procedures and standards. The Manager will recommend improvements in methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working condition activities for the area and the site.



Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 7am -4pm, hours/schedule is subject to change.

Essential Functions

  • Effectively supervise and guide the maintenance activities of Technicians who are responsible for pharmaceutical production equipment/pharmaceutical facility support equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct maintenance in accordance with FDA guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices, Controlled Change Management, and all internal and external required regulations pertaining to Good Maintenance Practices.
  • Evaluate and assign work orders to properly skilled technicians. Manage emergency equipment repairs by problem assessment, problem solving and assignment of work to properly skilled technicians.
  • Responsible for the adherence, processing and tracking of maintenance related documentation, including policies/procedures, SOP's, PM/DM reports, deviation reports, change control documents, overdue reports, retired and inactive records, and PM/DM planning schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate maintenance records through an active interface with the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) during work execution and closeout for work history documentation.
  • Ensure a safe and quality working environment for all employees through training, awareness, and compliance to safety guidelines and performs initial accident investigations within his/her area.
  • Ensure productivity through proper planning of job requirements and reliability skills.
  • Provide training and leadership to direct reports on all daily duties they are assigned with initial and periodic assessments.
  • Manage capital and major maintenance projects within approved dollar limits.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of 5S, TPM and its implementation in an operating environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective 2 way communication with employees, production personnel and site leadership.
  • Exhibit the ability to embrace a vision and inspire others to meet organizational goals through change management.
  • Ensures effective employee relations through employee coaching, mentoring and development in addition to providing performance evaluations and management for direct reports.
  • Must maintain operational compliance with US and international regulatory agencies and guidelines (i.e. FDA, EU, HC, TGA, PIC/S, ISO, USP, NRC, cGMP, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
  • Actively participate in multiple facets of department and plant safety programs, including job safety analysis, hazard recognition, and hazardous energy control procedures.
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives through cost savings ideas, good maintenance practices, and equipment repair cycles.
  • Maintain areas relative to the plant hazardous waste management program.
  • Maintain a pro-active and self motivated attitude.

Requirements

  • B.S degree required. Preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience in maintenance management and supervision in a pharmaceutical industry required.
  • Extensive knowledge of cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and NRC regulations preferred.
  • Action oriented/drives for results.

Working Conditions:



  • Willingness to work in plant producing radioactive materials and requiring all employees to participate in safety programs designed to minimize potential and/or actual exposure levels.
  • Responsibilities include the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, kneeling, crouching, twisting the upper body, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, must be able to physically negotiate stairs and evacuation ladders with or without accommodation, wear and operate safety equipment, enter vessels, and inspect equipment.
  • Material handling devices (e.g., hand truck, fork truck, and conveyors) are used when possible, however, use of proper lifting and movement techniques is necessary to prevent injury.
  • Must be willing to wear a variety of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hearing protection as needed.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of 8+ hours a day while performing duties.
  • Must possess good hand-eye coordination; close attention to detail is required.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to mechanical/moving parts, hazards including corrosive, flammable and toxic material, dust, dirt, odors, and irritants.
  • Willingness to complete safety training within allotted timeframes, and work in a team-based environment.
  • Must be able to work outside of regular work hours, including off shift, weekend, and holiday work as business needs require.
