Overview

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting in timely preparation and issuance of complete and accurate monthly and annual consolidated financial statements. The performance of this position will be primarily measured by how successful we are in the ensuring that all entries and reconciliations are completed.



Responsibilities

    Bill Accounting, IT, Internal audit/SOX billings, Recruitment fees and AP check fees to hotels and restaurants monthly
  • Complete Corporate rebills and Medical twice per month accurately and by the deadlines
  • Complete Highgate Capital (HCI) billings every week accurately and by the deadlines
  • Monitor AR email box and answer requests from hotel and restaurant finance teams regarding backup, support, et cetera in a timely and professional manner. Monitor AR aging to hold hotel finance teams accountable to payment deadlines
  • Monitor the AP email box. Process invoices and payment batches to meet debt service and suppliers' deadlines.
  • Train staff and offshore AR and AP support team.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in Blackline for domestic and international entities, analyze the variances (if any) and record necessary adjusting journal entries.
  • Assist in timely preparation and issuance of complete and accurate monthly and annual consolidated financial statements
  • Maintain Bad debt reserve schedules and other schedules as needed.
  • Respond to inquiries related to General Ledger account balances and transactions/ journal entries.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting package, MD&A and other reporting required by Highgate Hotel's Debt covenants and partnership agreements.
  • Assist in implementing enhancement to financial systems (e.g. Oracle), develop functional specifications for approved enhancements, document changes and updates to the system, and work with IT team to resolve technical problems.
  • Assist in successful completion of external financial audits, including delivering information to internal and external auditors on a timely basis.
  • Provide support on ad hoc project


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance related or Accounting required
  • 2+ years of accounting experienced required
  • 1+ year of restaurant accounting experience required
  • 1+ year of public accounting experience preferred
  • Prior real estate experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel required
  • Proficient with Oracle or other large ERP accounting systems
  • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • A strong desire to develop into a future finance and accounting leader within a dynamic organization
