Job Overview:
The Building Support Personnel will clean
up the plant and surrounding areas to maintain safe working conditions with good efficiency. This position is responsible for related operations involved in repairing building and maintaining grounds; including power, lights, and electrical circuits, safety and associated functions. This position requires the capability to read, understand, and perform to Standard Work Instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Be aware and awake to Ingersoll Rand company standard work procedures and standards to insure individual and collective safety, in addition to avoiding unnecessary risk to oneself, co-workers, contractors, customers, and property. Be a stand for safety having the courage to call forth and report unsafe practices.
- Completes all special projects associated with buildings or grounds, as requested including but not limited to moving furniture or fixtures, changing lights.
- Responsible for logging time and materials into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) on a daily basis in the form of work orders, P.M.s, etc.
- Remove trash and recycle cardboard daily and perform other janitorial work as required.
- Responsible for maintaining and operating floor scrubber and floor cleaning equipment.
- Assist Maintenance Personnel as directed.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and repair of non-CNC equipment.
- Ability to perform basic HVAC and plumbing.
- Perform related functions in plant maintenance.
- Complete facility inspections.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete small welding projects as needed.
- Support and perform basic Preventative Maintenance duties.
- Participate in '5 Whys' problem solving exercises.
- Perform light carpentry and entry level construction.
- Understanding of electrical meter testing.
- Install electrical gear, equipment and devices.
- Install lighting fixtures, equipment and devices.
- Bend and install rigid conduit.
- Setup and pull wire and cable.
- Terminate power, control and instrumentation wire and cable.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of plant experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, Facility maintenance tech school (preferred)
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Must have knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code) and OSHA safety standards.
- Capability of performing routine repairs on building or machines
- Excellent past work record (performance, attendance and attitude)
- Powered industrial truck certification on forklifts, articulation boom lifts and scissor lifts preferred
Core Competencies:
- Ability to lift a maximum of 40 lbs.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Works within a manufacturing environment, with exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, and chemicals
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Must possess a valid state Driver's License.
- Obtain a Powered Industrial Equipment Certification from Ingersoll Rand within 3 months.
- Electrical Arc Flash training (preferred) or the ability to complete training within 3 months.
- Trade school electrical I & II training (preferred)

* This position will be fully based on site based at our Alsip, IL location
Union Relationship:
