The Opportunity: Our Mortgage Operations team is looking to add a new role to their team. The Mortgage Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the loan processing and closing teams. Focus is on building highly effective teams, streamlining workflows, and ensuring loans are processed and closed quickly and with high quality. This role will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance, and support the delivery of mortgage products aligned with organizational goals.
What You'll Do:
- Cultivate, develop, and retain high-performing teams through targeted coaching, mentoring, and upskilling. Foster a culture of adaptability, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to unlock new opportunities.
- Lead initiatives to develop new and more innovative, efficient processes to improve overall end-to-end cycle times and/or quality.
- Manage multiple priorities, delegate effectively, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Act as a liaison between sales and processing to reduce and resolve escalations, clarify guidelines, and maintain transparency. Provide coaching, training, and development with team members.
- Stay up to date on compliance with federal, state, and investor guidelines throughout the loan process.
- Collaborate with all areas of mortgage and DFCU Financial to align operational goals with business objectives.
- Support the rollout of new mortgage products by adapting team workflows and resources.
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting of production metrics, errors/exceptions, QC reviews, and compliance data. Share successes and opportunities through monthly scorecards.
- Identify patterns, capacity, and staffing needs to ensure KPI's are met.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mortgage operations with leadership responsibilities.
- Ability to lead and influence distributed teams, driving accountability and consistent performance.
- Strong understanding of mortgage processing and closing procedures.
- Familiarity with loan origination systems and document management platforms.
- Proficient with compliance and regulatory requirements (TRID, ECOA, RESPA, HMDA).
- Experience with Michigan and Florida housing programs or government-backed loan products, preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to initiate and embrace change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and ability to work in a team environment.
