This position can be performed in either Groton, Connecticut or Golden, Colorado.


The Business Line Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all activities within their division. This executive role demands a high level of coordination with corporate finance, administration, business development, and other support departments to ensure that resources and staffing are optimized to meet corporate objectives. The Business Line Manager acts as the principal communication link between senior management and business unit staff, ensuring compliance with corporate safety and quality standards while achieving cost and schedule commitments to customers.


This position will require travel.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement division strategies that align with corporate objectives and drive business growth.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure efficient management of the RPS business line, maintaining high standards of operational excellence.
  • Resource Management: Collaborate with operational leads and support departments to allocate resources effectively, ensuring project and product demands are met.
  • Senior Management Interface: Provide strategic and operational reports to Alpha Safety Senior Management, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion the Cadre Operating Model, emphasizing continuous improvement, safety, quality, and adherence to core values.
  • Project Execution: Oversee project management to achieve goals within timelines and budget, applying quality and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proposal and Plan Review: Establish pricing and evaluate project proposals/plans, determining necessary resources, time frames, and budget limitations.
  • Business Development: Lead and support business development initiatives, including bids, proposals, marketing campaigns, and representation at conferences and trade shows.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare and review detailed status reports, adjusting schedules or plans as necessary and implementing corrective actions.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical advice and resolve issues in collaboration with project and engineering personnel.
  • Customer Relations: Manage customer interactions and expectations, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop staff, establish training plans, conduct performance appraisals, and recognize accomplishments.
  • Financial Management: Monitor budgets and costs, implementing cost control measures and optimizing financial performance.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by senior management.


Required Education and Experience:



  • Experience: Minimum of fifteen years in the nuclear industry or a related technical field, with significant experience in leadership roles.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or Master's in Engineering Management is highly preferred.

  • Project Management: Extensive experience in managing large-scale projects, including planning, execution, and delivery within budget and timelines.
  • Customer Orientation: Strong focus on customer satisfaction, with a track record of delivering on business and client requirements.
  • Autonomy and Initiative: Capable of working independently, taking initiative, and driving projects to successful completion.
  • Effective Communication: Superior communication skills, adept at conveying corporate strategies, goals, and objectives to diverse audiences.
  • Analytical and Problem Solving: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a strategic approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges.


This role is critical for driving the business line's success, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
