Position Overview:

PBS LearningMedia is a free digital platform that supports PreK - 12 educators with high quality, media centric, standards aligned classroom resources from PBS, local public media stations, and trusted partners. Our library includes thousands of videos, interactives, and curated playlists, paired with teaching tips and suggested activities and organized by subject area, topic, and grade band, so teachers can quickly discover and use engaging, trusted content that fits their classrooms.

To broaden both the awareness and access to PBS LearningMedia content, we are building a comprehensive strategy to grow our reach and impact with educators and students on YouTube. The PBS LearningMedia Intern will support the team in enhancing our content plans, improving how videos are packaged and promoted, and will use data to learn what resonates and to inform content decisions. This role is best suited for someone who is creative, wants to learn more about public media, and is energized by how a compelling video can help spark curiosity and strengthen students learning.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Assist with managing and maintaining the PBS LearningMedia YouTube channel, including uploading and scheduling content, curating playlists, and staying attuned to new trends.

  • Identify existing PBS LearningMedia resources that could be adapted for YouTube and share ideas for repackaging

  • Collaborate with the LearningMedia social media team to create short form video content for YouTube

  • Support content editing when needed

  • Help organize playlists and recommend improvements to channel structure and navigation

  • Support thumbnail and packaging brainstorming, including A B test ideas as needed

  • Make recommendations based on engagement and performance data.

Requirements for success:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student studying education, digital strategy, instructional technology, marketing, film/video production

  • Strong interest in digital video production, education, or public media

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, positivity, and confidence

  • Experience publishing content on YouTube, video editing experience, thumbnail design desired but not required

  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe tools, CapCut, or similar tools preferred but not required

Skills Intern may gain:

  • Workflow management skills: How to plan a channel's content, manage uploads and playlists, and maintain a consistent publishing cadence.

  • Data analysis skill: How to read platform analytics and use performance data to inform decisions about what to make next, refine, and stop doing.

  • Collaboration and communication skills: How to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.

Additional Information:

  • Time Commitment: June 1, 2026 - August 21, 2026

  • Compensation: Undergraduate students receive $15/hour, graduate students receive $17/hour
