Position Description:

Position reports to the Materials Supervisor and assists the supervisor in meeting production goals by performing a variety of semi-skilled manual duties. Supports Materials to achieve departmental goals. The role involves exercising independent judgment and ensuring work is performed at a quality level consistent with Wabash's standard practice. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Primary duty is to assist supervisor to meet production goals as outlined by the supervisor.


  • Leading a team of hourly employees.


  • To perform a variety of semi-skilled manual duties requiring knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment and safety precautions.


  • To adhere to and enforce the general safety plan.


  • May be required to do other duties as requested by supervisor.


  • Primary job functions require exercising independent judgement.


  • Ensures work is performed at a quality level consistent with Wabash's standard practice.


  • Good attendance is critical, and coordinator is required to report all absences directly to supervisor.


  • Must be willing and able to work overtime.


Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:



  • Drive Wabash vehicles to different plants to pull parts.


  • Load and unload trucks via forklift.


  • Identify parts by reading labels/orders and pull parts. parts orders for shipping to include all labels and bill of lading.


  • Build wood crates


  • Prepare


  • using various saws and air powered staple guns.


  • Pull, pack and label parts for shipment (includes boxing parts and building wood crates for shipping).


  • Prepare parts orders for shipping to include all labels and bill of landing.


  • Build wood crates using various saws and air powered staple guns.


  • Provide inventory assistance.


  • Load LTL semi-trailers using a forklift.


  • Enter all incoming receivers to the as400 (PU15)


  • Receive and check in UPS and Fed X and distribute to correct personnel


  • Assist with checking items in at the receiving area as they are being unloaded


  • Make tags and help put tags on all product that comes in


  • Work with various departments such as purchasing


  • Send and receive communication on outgoing and incoming material


  • Back up person for writing SO's



Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and AS400


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • Excellent interpersonal skills and phone etiquette


  • High level of organization and attention to detail


  • Motivated and ability to work on own initiative and take responsibility where necessary


  • Ability to work to a high standard and as part of a team


  • High School diploma and two years' experience preferred



Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

Experience and education are a plus; however, it's not required. Wabash provides training for all assembler positions. Upon receiving an offer letter from us, you'll undergo orientation and several days of training, preparing you for the production floor.

This job operates within a manufacturing plant environment. Safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. While performing the duties for this job inside the plant, the employee is frequently exposed to normal working conditions for a manufacturing plant with a noise level that is moderate to loud noise. The roles defined through Wabash may routinely use machinery equipment, forklifts, computers as well as laboratory instrumentation and tools, both manual and automatic.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for extended periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 or more pounds. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. On occasion, employees must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of PPE. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extreme temperature changes in the plant from normal temperatures to above normal temperatures, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places and confined spaces. The noise level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.

Physical Demands:

You are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and operate tools or controls for the entirety of their shift. The employee needs full range of motion in arms and hands, all assemblers must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Some employees also work in small spaces throughout their shift and frequently lift and/or carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
