THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Wildlife Habitat Group Manager, you will plan and oversee habitat projects, game land maintenance, infrastructure construction and maintenance, equipment acquisition and other projects and programs within the habitat management group. This role monitors compliance with the agency's standard operating procedures, work rules, and standards of conduct by all subordinates as well as reviews and approves all reports submitted by the Habitat Management Crew. You will have the opportunity to establish workload priorities and annual work plans for all game lands and leased areas within the group. On occasion, this position investigates work-related accidents or incidents and completes reports from witness statements, overseeing any follow-up recommendations to prevent future occurrences. This position has a focus on leadership skills requiring supervisory functions such as performance reviews, interviews, leave requests and disciplinary actions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, home headquartered, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is home headquartered. You must live within Bucks, Lehigh, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware or Northampton Counties.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional natural resource management experience; and a bachelor's degree in natural resource management, parks and recreation, biology, forestry, ecology, geosciences, environmental sciences, wildlife management, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess an active motor vehicle operator's license.
  • You must obtain a Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator certification within the employee probationary period.
  • You must successfully complete Wildland Type 2 Firefighter (FFT2) training, including successfully completing a Moderate (or Arduous) level Work Capacity Test (WCT) within the employee probationary period.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
