Job Description

Job Purpose/Summary:


Young Brothers LLC is seeking a motivated and skilled IT Manager to support daily IT operations. This role is responsible for coordinating infrastructure, help desk and end-user support, application support, cybersecurity activities, and business systems support. The IT Manager supervises help desk staff and assists in ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues across the organization.



Reporting to the Information Technology Director, this position supports the execution of established IT plans and priorities, helping maintain secure, stable, and reliable technology systems.



Essential Functions:



Infrastructure Technology




  • Infrastructure Operations: Support the ongoing maintenance, configuration, and optimization of the company's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, systems, and software applications. Ensure the availability, performance, and security of IT assets.



Security and Compliance: Support the implementation of cybersecurity controls designed to protect sensitive information and systems. Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable industry regulations and standards such as the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) by following established policies and procedures. Participate in security assessments, audits, and vulnerability testing activities to help identify and remediate risks. Assist with incident response efforts for IT security or infrastructure events, including documentation, root cause analysis support, and tracking corrective actions.




  • Data & AI Strategy: Work closely and collaborate with IT Director to support the organization's data governance and AI integration strategy, ensuring accuracy, security, compliance, and responsible use.


  • Cloud Computing: Support administration of cloud platforms as directed (e.g., AWS, Azure, etc.) to enhance scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. Migrate on-premises workloads to the cloud and leverage cloud-native technologies to modernize IT infrastructure.


  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of IT Service desk and system engineering staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous learning and improvement.



Vendor and Asset Coordination: Coordinate with vendors for routine service requests and issue resolution. Maintain IT inventory records and assist with tracking hardware and software assets.




  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Assist in budget planning and cost tracking. Monitor expenditures and provide reporting to ensure alignment with approved budget.


  • Help Desk Support: Supervise the help desk team and provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, ensuring prompt resolution of IT-related issues. Maintain IT policies, procedures, and documentation to streamline support processes. Manage on call rotation with IT team and are required to be on call in rotating schedule.


  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Support development and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity procedures to minimize downtime and mitigate risks to the organization's IT infrastructure and operations.


  • Change Management: Enforce change management processes for IT systems and infrastructure.



Leadership



  • Lead activities assigned by the IT Director and/or projects to improve IT infrastructure and business systems and develop new or enhanced business applications and data systems.
  • Be a leader for "Speak Up", including encouraging peers and staff to exhibit a safe and ethical culture.
  • Understands and comply with Company policies and procedures, including but not limited to EEO, Non-Discrimination, Harassment, and Saltchuk Code of Ethical Business Conduct.

OTHER DUTIES



  • Occasional travel required to outer islands for support to Port locations.
  • Occasional travel outside Hawaii may be required for training and/or meetings.
  • Required to be on call for after-hours help desk support in a rotating schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Knowledge Skills and Abilities:



  • Strong technical expertise in networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into actionable IT initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of IT governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CMMC, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of data management practices, including SQL, ETL processes, and datawarehouse concepts; ability to guide teams in implementing data pipelines and using tools such as Microsoft Fabric for analytics and reporting.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, PMP, AWS/Azure are preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of information technology.



Minimum Qualifications: This position requires Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management Information Systems, and 5-10 years of IT management roles, experience in the Marine industry is a plus.



Working Conditions: Work is mostly performed in a 24-hour/365-day office environment sitting at a desk using computer keyboard and telephone. May be required to work extended hours as needed to implement new production application systems and supporting infrastructure and to resolve complications with the same. Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement.



Physical/Mental Demands: Work environment includes typical computer-related noise levels and paper and equipment generated dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis. Incumbent is on call to provide support services during off hours. Physical skill is required for keyboarding and use of peripheral equipment. Moderate lifting up to 25lbs. Requires frequent sitting, use of hand and fingers for handling or feeling objects; engage in verbal, written communication. The workday usually has a high number of interruptions and priority changes necessitating the need to remain flexible and focused in order to accomplish tasks.
