In this role, you'll be the primary engine behind the security team, supervising patrol staff and serving as a key coordinator for physical security systems, including electronic access control and video surveillance. You'll manage the essential "behind-the-scenes" oversight that keeps our campus secure. Whether you are mentoring a new officer or collaborating with campus partners to secure a major university event, you'll be a pillar of professional reliability.

The salary range for this role is 50,000 - 53,000 annually

What you'll do

Safety & Security Operations and Programs - 70%
  • Oversee departmental operations for the security team which operates 24/7/365.
  • Supervise security patrol staff, direct work assignments, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate performance.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and regulatory compliance while identifying and addressing areas of risk.
  • Provide on-site support for campus events, including coordinating with campus partners.
  • Assist the Director with policies, programs, initiatives, and security systems/surveillance related to safety and security.


Safety and Security Services - 20%
  • Support customer service operations: Campus parking, ID cards, and access management.
  • Oversee policies and procedures supporting physical campus access, supporting University operations.


Security and Compliance Reporting - 10%
  • Coordinate submission of the Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics (Clery Act).
  • Partner with campus departments and Campus Security Authorities in collecting data to publish Annual Security and Fire Safety reports.
  • Assist in training, policy revisions, audits and compliance investigations related to the Clery Act.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure & Experience

Required Education
    • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education
    • Bachelor's degree in related field

Required Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in physical security or executive protection
  • Must hold or obtain Frist Aid, CPR, and AED certification through the American Heart Association within 60 days of employment.
  • Must hold or obtain a permit to carry in accordance with state statute within 60 days of employment.

Preferred Experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Previous experience in higher education

  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems with little direction.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Self-directed, able to work independently, and function well as a member of a larger team.

  • Strong communication skills in verbal and written contexts.

  • Able to organize, complete, and manage multiple priorities promptly and effectively.

  • Ability to work closely with students and patience in answering repetitive questions.

  • Must be able to complete annual training on use of force and qualification in the weapons they carry, in compliance with state standards.

  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn and adopt new technology.

  • Must be able to handle sensitive, confidential information in a mature, professional manner

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

  • Able to work in an office setting with multiple distractions and interruptions.

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

    Expected Hours of Work:

    Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
