Position Summary:

Responsible for overseeing an assigned portfolio of multifamily properties, including formulating and executing asset management strategies, directing third party management companies and managing the additions to and sales from the portfolio. Must be an experienced multi-family operation professional with a thorough understanding of both luxury and workforce multifamily industry with a demonstrated track record of success. This position works as part of the Investment Management team to ensure execution of asset business plans, optimal operations, and smooth lease-up and transition of new properties.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Develop, present, and execute comprehensive annual business plans and budgets for each asset.
  • Manage the property management teams to effectively operate each asset, ensuring budgets and occupancy targets are met.
  • Manage the lease-up and turnover/transition of new projects (as needed), working in tandem with designated property management partners.
  • Develop and communicate strategic recommendations regarding leasing strategies that meet or exceed proforma.
  • Act as a point expert in each market where properties are assigned, with a strong knowledge of competitive apartment communities and other economic drivers that could impact asset performance.
  • Successfully partner with internal and third-party property management teams, including working with Property Managers, Regional Managers, leasing staff, and marketing personnel.
  • Visit all properties within the portfolio on a regular basis to oversee operations and on-site staff.
  • Review financial reporting and variance analysis and coordinate with accounting personnel to ensure that financial statements are accurately presented.
  • Assist in the underwriting of new multifamily acquisitions and/or development projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of asset-level valuation reviews as needed, including gathering market data, reviewing property performance and measuring each asset against its budgets and goals.

  • Expert knowledge and experience operating and leasing of all types of rental communities - workforce to luxury.
  • Excellent communicator, able to translate vision into action at the property level.
  • Strong financial acumen with a thorough understanding of financial statements and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work with internal and external business partners, consultants, and clients.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues both verbally and in writing to senior management and clients.
  • Adaptable, able to quickly respond to changing conditions and requirements without missing a beat.
  • Effective problem-solver, able to quickly assess a situation and provide new, creative solutions.
  • Proactively and independently gather information and answers to facilitate and execute duties.
  • Team player, able to collaborate and pitch in to get the job done.
  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet project deadlines.


Education & Technical Skills



  • A minimum of ten (10) years' successful multifamily management experience required. Ideal candidate will have overseen a portfolio of diverse multifamily communities.
  • Proficient expertise in MS Office (Excel, Word) is required; familiarity with property management software programs (e.g., MRI, OneSite, Yardi, etc.) is desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Travel is required.

Compensation Information:

Base salary range is $100,000 to $150,000. This range is estimated for this role; actual pay may be different.
